The Right Focus!
In II Chron 26, we read about a young sixteen year old King Uzziah who began a reign over the people of Judah that lasted for 52 years. The Bible says that he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and God caused him to prosper. Even in the midst of a sinful, selfish people, King Uzziah was always seeking the kingdom of God. What a challenge to us! Let’s face it; we live in a time that can often be discouraging and disheartening. The constant array of battles, temptations, coupled to the troubled times in which we live can quickly lead to bitterness, emptiness or even an attitude of what’s the use. We can easily become bitter at heart, hateful toward others, judgmental and often can cause great harm to ourselves and to others. King Uzziah faced those same battles, suffered the same defeats, and yet, continued to do the will of God. Can we do less? When to us, the Lord has entrusted His precious work and given us a great charge to win the lost at any cost. But how? Keep your eyes on the only thing that matters-Jesus Christ ! Loving Hm (Matt 22:37), Knowing Him (Phil 3:10), Seeking Him (Ps 105:4) Becoming more like him every day (Ps 17:15). As Jeannie Churchill (Winston Churchill’s mother) stated, “We are forever throwing away substance in pursuit of shadows” “Wherefore gird up the lions of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ -1 Peter 1:13 I have a Christ that satisfies, since I have been redeemed. To do His will my highest prize, since I have been redeemed. Edwin O. Excel Pastor Rudy
